MnDOT commissioner finalist for U of M job

Minnesota Department of Transportation Commissioner Tom Sorel is a finalist for a job at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.

Sorel says he's one of two candidates for the director job at the university's Center for Transportation Studies.

"I love my job, I love working for MnDOT, I love the folks at MnDOT, it's more looking at another really good opportunity and recognizing uncertainties as to what could happen this fall," Sorel said, referring to this year's election. The position of MnDOT commissioner is a gubernatorial appointment.

Sorel was appointed by Gov. Tim Pawlenty replace Lt. Gov. Carol Molnau who also served as the agency's commissioner. Sorel has been commissioner for two years. He previously worked for the Federal Highway Administration's St. Paul office.
