Health care company suspected of fraud in lead testing

Police have raided a Minneapolis health care company seeking evidence of medical billing fraud involving lead testing.

Best Care Home Health Services had been under contract to Hennepin County's Medical Health Plan to test infants and toddlers for lead. Investigators, armed with a search warrant, carted out boxes of records and computers Thursday.

Officers also arrested two of the company's employees and led them to a squad car in handcuffs.

Police say the company is suspected of overbilling the government and insurers for home care services, in addition to allegedly billing the county for more lead tests than it performed.

Investigators are still trying to determine the exact extent of the alleged fraud.
