DULUTH, Minn. (AP) - Three teenagers have been charged with beating a University of Minnesota-Duluth student until he was unconscious.

A 16-year-old boy is charged in juvenile court with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault and robbery. Prosecutors say the boy repeatedly kicked and stomped on Walfrid "Dash" Johnson on the lakewalk in Duluth.

A 17-year-old girl and 16-year-old boy are also charged with first-degree assault and robbery.

The 21-year-old Johnson was found bloodied and unconscious on the lakewalk May 20. KARE-TV reports doctors at a Twin Cities hospital say it could take months before they know if Johnson will regain full brain function. ---
