One man injured, one dead in early-morning shooting

Minneapolis police say two men were shot on the city's east side early Saturday morning.

Sgt. Bill Palmer said both were taken to HCMC, where one died from his injuries.

"Preliminary investigation leads us to believe the shots that struck the two men came from a passing vehicle," Palmer said. "The men apparently had been standing on the sidewalk in front of the red dragon bar when the shooting occurred."

Police haven't released the names of the men, and officers don't have a suspect in custody.

The man who died is Minneapolis' 23rd homicide victim of the year, four more than last year's total.
