Ex-head of MN home for disabled sentenced in theft
The former head of a northern Minnesota home for disabled adults has been sentenced for stealing from residents.
Thirty-two-year-old Jane Halvorson of Bemidji was sentenced Monday to a month on electronic home monitoring.
Halvorson pleaded guilty to stealing more than $3,100 in 2008. The Grand Forks, N.D., Herald reports she must pay back that back and a fine of $585.
Halvorson was head of Greenwood Home in Greenbush. According to the complaint, an employee discovered discrepancies in the personal accounts of seven residents who lived at the home in Greenbush and at one in Roseau.

Halvorson had turned in receipts, saying they were from purchases she made for residents. But the complaint says items on the receipts did not coincide with what the residents needed or had in their possession.
