Two people are in critical condition and a third is hospitalized after a race car crashed into a pit area along the track at North Central Speedway near Brainerd.
The Brainerd Dispatch reports that medical helicopters landed on the track shortly after the accident, which happened about 11 p.m. Wednesday. The three injured men were transported to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale.
Two of the people hit are in critical condition. They are Keith Nelson, 48, and Timothy Boeder, 43, both of Brainerd. Nelson is a flag man and Boeder is a track promoter. Their CaringBridge websites say Nelson is badly injured but expected to live, and that Boeder has head injuries and is in an induced coma.
The third injured person was the car's driver, 40-year-old James Eblen of St. Cloud. He is in good condition. Officials say he lost control of his car.
