Cheese sculptor to ply craft at Minneapolis store

The Cheese Lady is taking up brief residence at a Rainbow Foods in Minneapolis.

Sarah Kaufmann has been creating sculpture from cheese since 1996. Her work has graced food and wine festivals, supermarkets, trade shows, state fairs and sporting events. Through this Saturday, she'll be at work in the store transforming two 640-pound blocks of Wisconsin cheddar into the "Big Cheese Slugger," inspired by the national pasttime.

The cheese sculpting is sponsored by the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board in honor of June Dairy Month. The Rainbow in question is on New Brighton Boulevard in northeast Minneapolis.
