Aircraft-maker Cirrus Design has paid six months' worth of back rent that it owes the city of Grand Forks but has much more left to pay.

City officials say the Duluth, Minn.-based company has paid $507,000 but still owes $930,000 for 11 more months of back rent on its plant in Grand Forks' industrial park.

Members of the city's Growth Fund plan to meet with Cirrus management July 27 to discuss the company's plans to become current.

Cirrus management told the City Council last December that the company had been hit hard by the recession. ---
