A motorcyclist is dead after a police chase in Minneapolis.

The State Patrol says the 23-year-old motorcyclist collided with a pickup truck after he ran a red light in north Minneapolis around 4:30 p.m.

The Patrol says he was fleeing a state trooper who had attempted to pull him over, starting a chase that lasted less than a mile.

Authorities have not released the man's name. He died at the scene.

KSTP-TV reports the Patrol says the Fargo, N.D., man was driving a motorcycle without a license plate. His license had been revoked and he was not wearing a helmet.
