2 Minn. salmonella cases linked to recalled meals

Two recent cases of salmonella infections in Minnesota have been linked to frozen chicken and rice meals being recalled nationally.

ConAgra is recalling all Marie Callender's brand Cheesy Chicken and Rice frozen meals, regardless of production date. Thirty people in 15 states have been diagnosed with a rare type of salmonella.

The Minnesota Department of Health says a woman and a girl became ill from the outbreak strain in Minnesota, and both of them ate the Marie Callender product that's been recalled.

One is a child and one is an adult. One resides in the metro area and one resides outstate. One was hospitalized, but both have recovered.

Anyone with the product in their freezers should discard it and not consume it.
