Ag officials: Don't spread emerald ash borer

As many Minnesota residents clean up tree limbs and branches that fell during recent storms, the Department of Agriculture is urging residents to be careful not to spread emerald ash borer.

Ag officials say residents of Hennepin, Ramsey and Houston counties should avoid moving ash trees and branches outside county lines. Those three counties have confirmed infestations of the pest - and they are under quarantine.

Ag officials encourage homeowners to contact their city public works office or waste removal service to find out how to get rid of tree waste. The Department of Agriculture also has posted a list on its website of places that accept tree waste in quarantined counties.
