Director of Minn. gay rights group steps down

The head of Minnesota's largest gay rights organization is stepping down after a year and a half on the job.

OutFront Minnesota says executive director Amy Johnson is leaving at the end of July.

Johnson took over the organization in January 2009. She was an attorney in private practice before leading OutFront Minnesota.

The group says longtime public policy director Monica Meyer will become interim executive director July 31.

Meyer also is board chair of TakeAction Minnesota, a progressive advocacy organization.
