Minn. panel meets to discuss health care overhaul

A panel of state lawmakers is examining the federal health care overhaul and Minnesota's efforts to provide health care to more people.

The Legislative Commission on Health Care Access meets Wednesday at the Capitol.

The meeting convened by Democratic Rep. Tom Huntley of Duluth will cover a grab bag of health care issues, including spending projections, federal grants and steps the state is expected to take under the new federal health care law.

A 2007 state law charged the 10-member commission with recommending ways to cover all Minnesotans by 2011.
