Police in Minneapolis said Tuesday that they have arrested a man in the shooting deaths of two others in 2005.
Jermaine Isaac Heard and Leroy Kennedy died of gunshot wounds after the shooting the night of June 9, 2005.
Police arrested a 37-year-old man on Tuesday morning about three miles north of where the shooting occurred five years ago, police said.
"We never close homicide cases," Minneapolis Police Sgt. William Palmer said. "We are pretty happy that we were able to close out this case."
"These are the most serious crimes that we investigate, so we're always trying to bring justice to the families of the victims. It's important for people who want to commit these crimes to know that we never stop looking," he added.
Palmer said police were not immediately releasing details on what led them to the arrest.
The suspect has not yet been charged, but Palmer expected the Hennepin County Attorney would charge him soon.
The man is being held in the Hennepin County jail.
