Indictment: Nursing assistants took $60K from vulnerable

A federal grand jury has indicted two nursing assistants for allegedly stealing more than $60,000 from vulnerable adults in their care.

Sherita Scott-Kelley, 29, of Minneapolis, and Monica Williams, 30, of Brooklyn Center, are charged with conspiracy, bank fraud, access device fraud and identity theft.

According to the indictment, which was unsealed Monday, Scott-Kelley and Williams used the names and other personal information of elderly and disabled patients to obtain checks and credit cards. They then are accused of using them to buy things at JC Penney and Office Depot.

The two are also accused of withdrawing money from client' accounts.

The indictment says the victims were living in private residences, nursing homes, assisted living facilities and adult group homes.

The alleged scheme happened between April 2006 and November 2008.

Scott-Kelley's husband, 54-year-old Ronald Bila Shaka of Minneapolis, has also been charged in the alleged incidents.
