Three shot in NE Minneapolis; police unsure of motive

Minneapolis police say they don't yet know what motivated an early morning shooting in which one man was killed.

Police were called to the Old Colony gas station on Washington Avenue North at about 3:30 a.m.

Sergeant Bill Palmer said officers found three male victims of an apparent shooting outside the business.

"Officers from the fourth precinct responded to a shots fired call at the Old Colony gas station in the 1600 block of Washington Avenue North," Palmer said. "While the officers were on their way to the call, it was updated as a shooting. When the first officers arrived they found three adult male victims outside of the business."

The three men were taken to Hennepin County Medical Center.

"HCMC EMS personnel took the three victims to HCMC, where one of the adult males succumbed to his injuries fairly shortly after he arrived at the hospital," Palmer said. "Another male was described as having a life-threatening injury, and the third victim had a non-life threatening injury."

The men's names haven't been released. Police don't have anyone in custody, and they're asking for tips from the public.
