Pawlenty honors soldier with flag proclamation

Gov. Tim Pawlenty is ordering all U.S. and Minnesota flags be flown at half-staff at state and federal buildings from sunrise to sunset in honor of a soldier from Apple Valley killed in Afghanistan.

1st Lt. Christopher Goeke was killed July 13 while responding to an attack on an Afghan National Army facility in the key southern city of Kandahar. The 2004 graduate of Apple Valley High School was 23 years old.

Goeke's funeral was Sunday. He will be buried with full military honors Monday at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
