Wreckage of plane found that was headed to Mayo Clinic

Emergency officials say they have located the wreckage of a small medical plane that crashed into Lake Michigan a week ago.

Mason County Emergency Management Coordinator Liz Reimink said Friday it is possible the wreckage contains the bodies of four passengers still missing since the July 23 crash.

She said the Michigan State Police Underwater Recovery Unit found the aircraft using sonar Thursday evening.

The plane ran out of fuel and plunged into the lake off the coast of western Michigan while flying a cancer patient to the Mayo Clinic.

The pilot was rescued soon after. Rescuers gave up hope of finding any other survivors on Saturday.
