Duluth zoo flooded after culvert collapse
Employees worked to reopen the Lake Superior Zoo in Duluth Thursday after a portion of the property flooded.
The zoo was closed Wednesday after heavy rain tipped a culvert liner and caused Kingsbury Creek to back up.
The flooding, covering about 12 percent of the zoo, caused zookeepers to move the turkey vulture, but no other birds or animals had to be relocated to other cages.
Zoo director Leslie Larsen says they're lucky it quit raining or they would have had to move quite a few animals. The Duluth News Tribune says the polar bear, otters and seals were moved to inside enclosures.

The zoo hoped to open later Thursday if enough progress was made on getting rid of the water.
