2 dead in Wright County plane crash

Two people were killed when a small plane crashed in Wright County and the Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.

A news release from the Wright County sheriff's office says deputies received the call about 12:40 p.m. Sunday and were led to swampy area in Clearwater Township.

There, the pilot and passenger were found dead. The names were being withheld pending further investigation by deputies and the FAA.

Sheriff's Sgt. Todd Sandin tells KARE-TV the plane took off from a private air strip in Sherburne County on a leisure flight. The destination wasn't immediately known.
