Olmsted Co. deputy shoots, kills, robbery suspect

An Olmsted County sheriff's deputy shot and killed a man who may have been involved in a recent bank robbery.

The Post-Bulletin of Rochester reports it happened about 9:10 p.m. Monday along the Douglas Trail in northwest Rochester.

Chief Deputy Mark Darnell says the deputy was helping other agencies investigate a recent bank robbery when he made a traffic stop. The suspect fled into some nearby woods.

The deputy and his police dog tracked down the man, who then attacked the deputy. The deputy fired once. The 33-year-old man died at the scene.
