Farmers market to open in north Mpls

A five-year effort to get healthier food into some north Minneapolis neighborhoods takes its next step with the opening of a farmers market.

The Mini Farmer's Market is a small-scale weekly event that starts Tuesday from 2:30 to 5 p.m. The market will continue each Tuesday afternoon through November, weather permitting.

The market is located on the east end of a large parking lot on Plymouth Avenue North.

The Minneapolis Urban League has been working for years to get healthier food into the community. The league is teaming up with the Institute of Agriculture and Trade Policy to bring fresh fruits and vegetables into north Minneapolis.
