Road closures in southern Minn.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation says the situation on the roads in southern Minnesota continues to change as downpours continue.

A MnDOT spokesperson said northbound Highway 52 near Pine Island is closed because of culvert damage from the heavy rain. The south bound lanes remain open.

Elsewhere, the state has closed Highway 218 at Highway 14 in Owatonna, Highway 74 north of Elba, and Highway 58 north of Zumbrota. Also closed is Highway 60 west of Kenyon.

Some roads, like Highway 61 south of Winona, have reopened, despite water on the road or partial closures earlier in the day. Highway 14 west of Owatonna, though, is down to one lane near Meriden, as is Highway 63 near Zumbro Falls.

Transportation officials say that crews are out working to keep drains and ditches running. But they're warning drivers not to drive into standing water, since the road underneath might not be intact.
