St. Paul's Holman Field reopens as water recedes

The downtown St. Paul airport Holman Field has reopened as floodwaters on the Mississippi River recede.

A spokesman tells KSTP-TV the airport reopened around 2 p.m. Monday, less than a week after planes were forced to leave the airfield over flooding concerns.

The Mississippi crested Saturday afternoon in St. Paul at 17.1 feet, a foot lower than expected.

Workers are dismantling a temporary levee on Shepard Road.

By Thursday evening the river is expected to be at 13.6 feet, which would take St. Paul out of flood stage.
