After FBI searches, local attorneys educate public
Attorneys with the Minnesota chapter of the National Lawyers Guild want citizens to know their rights in the event of a search by law enforcement.
They are hosting an educational session Sunday in response to the recent FBI searches of homes and offices of anti-war activists in Minneapolis and Chicago. Just after the searches, the FBI said the agency was seeking evidence related to the material support of terrorism.
The defense attorneys plan to explain the federal material support laws, as well as discuss the federal grand jury process. They'll also advise citizens of their rights in the event of a subpoena or search warrant.
The session is from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Walker Church in Minneapolis.
