Car hits Prior Lake student near bus stop

School officials say an 11-year-old boy is hospitalized after he was hit by a car near his school bus stop in Prior Lake.

Police say the boy was struck about 7 a.m. Wednesday. His school bus was not there when the accident happened. The Star Tribune reports other students who were at the bus stop were taken safely to school.

WCCO-TV reports authorities say the boy's injuries were serious but not life-threatening. He was in stable condition at Hennepin County Medical Center.

The boy attends Hidden Oaks Middle School. His name was not released.
