2 Winona State students shot off campus

Police in Winona say the gunman who shot two Winona State University students over the weekend remains at large Monday.

Deputy Police Chief Tom Williams says it doesn't appear the two 19-year-old women knew the gunman.

Authorities say the shooting happened at a home just off campus Saturday about 11 p.m. The two women confronted a man after hearing glass shattering at the house. The two victims argued with the man who shot one woman in the leg. The other teen suffered a graze wound to her abdomen.

The Winona Daily News says Winona State issued a statement to students Sunday which said the school has increased security on campus. The university celebrated homecoming over the weekend.
