DNR announces $3.5M in Legacy grants
The DNR has announced grants of about $3.5 million for conservation projects, paid for by Legacy Amendment funding.
The Conservation Partners grant program pays local governments and non-profit groups to do projects that restore, protect, and enhance natural lands.
In this round, thirty-five projects were funded, ranging from land acquisition to restoration of special places such as Seminary Fen near Chaska, the Hastings Sand Coulee in the Mississippi River, and Highwood Park Nature Preserve in St. Paul.
Other projects aim to improve habitat for waterfowl, game birds, and fish. Many of the projects are in south-central Minnesota.
The grants were reviewed and approved by The Lessard-Sams Outdoor Heritage Council.
