Candidate concedes Austin mayoral race

The re-count is over in the Austin mayoral race. And, the result is the same.

Incumbent Mayor Tom Stiehm keeps his job. Candidate Marian Clennon requested a partial recount after losing to Stiehm by 1,699 votes on Nov. 2.

City, county and election officials hand counted ballots from three Austin precincts and found that ballot machines were accurate.

Clennon tells the Austin Daily Herald that the re-count gave her "peace of mind." She says she has called Stiehm to congratulate him.
