Pinnacle flight aborts takeoff from MSP
A Pinnacle Airlines flight aborted takeoff from a Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport runway after passengers reported smelling smoke in the cabin.
Metropolitan Airports Commission spokesman Patrick Hogan says a smoke detector went off and a "haze" appeared in the cabin of the regional flight, operated for Delta Air Lines. Flight 4086 was headed for Wichita, Kan., about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, but never left the runway.
Pinnacle spokesman Joe Williams said Thursday vapor from de-icing fluid seeped into the air conditioning/heating system on the plane, causing the smoke detector to go off.
Hogan says passengers were bused off the runway to a fire station, then returned to the terminal where they were rebooked.
The flight was carrying 43 passengers and three crew members.
