Charges: Minn. crash suspect told cops to kill him

A 29-year-old Bloomington man has been charged with fleeing police and vehicular homicide for a crash that killed a Fridley woman and both of her children early Sunday morning.

Rufus Victor faces six felony charges for the crash. The complaint against him says a trooper spotted him on Interstate 94 changing lanes erratically in a stolen Honda Accord with Illinois plates. The trooper said the car got off the freeway and took off going at least 90 miles an hour on nearby city streets.

The complaint says Victor hit Amanda Thomas's car at 2nd Street and Broadway Avenue, killing her and her 12-year-old son Andre instantly. Her infant son Akearon, died a short time later at a nearby hospital.

Police said they chased Victor on foot, and found him nearby. After hearing of the deaths, he allegedly told police that he had done something very bad and didn't deserve to live -- even asking police at one point to kill him.

Victor is being held at the Hennepin County jail.
