After ruining drums, Floodwood students get creative

Creativity got the best of the Floodwood percussion section - and now the students have come up with a creative way to replace $464 worth of damaged drums.

During last month's Christmas parade in Duluth, junior Jason Myrvold thought band members should break open glow sticks and smear the contents on the drum heads.

He told the Duluth News Tribune it would make the band stand out. It looked great at first - but then the drums started shattering. By the parade's end, over $400 in damage was done.

So band director Dave Myers and the six boys hatched a plan to "Rent-a-Drummer."
