Escaped teen in Mpls. park robbery surrenders

A teenager arrested in a robbery at a south Minneapolis park is back in custody after cutting off his electronic monitor and fleeing last week.

Officials say the 15-year-old turned himself in Sunday night at the juvenile detention center in downtown Minneapolis.

KSTP-TV reports officials confirm the teen had removed his electronic ankle monitor Wednesday night.

The boy had been staying with his grandmother after a judge allowed his release with electronic monitoring in mid-December.

Four teens were arrested after a mother was sexually assaulted and robbed while cross-country skiing with her two young children in Powderhorn Park last November.

Police followed footprints in the snow to a garage, where officers stopped an alleged sexual assault on two girls, ages 16 and 18.

The other three teens remain in custody.
