Man pleads guilty in Roseville police dog stabbing
A man has pleaded guilty to stabbing a Roseville police dog, an attack that left the dog without the use of his hind legs.
The Ramsey County Attorney's office says 21-year-old Roel Perez Jr. of Maplewood pleaded guilty Thursday to a felony count of attempted theft and a gross misdemeanor count of harming a public safety dog.
Authorities say the dog, known as Major, was stabbed by Perez when police responded to a break-in at a Maplewood business in November.
Sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 16.
