School fairs open in Mpls., St. Paul today

Students and parents in St. Paul and Minneapolis will be able to learn more Saturday about what schools are available in each city.

There will be separate information fairs in Minneapolis and St. Paul. Because Minnesota students can attend any school they want, the fairs are a chance for students and parents to learn about the options they have in each city.

The events will be held in each city's downtown -- at RiverCentre in St. Paul and the Hyatt Regency in Minneapolis. The Minneapolis fair starts at 9 a.m., St. Paul starts at 9:30 a.m. - both events last until 2 p.m.

In St. Paul, the fair is all encompassing. That means charter and parochial schools have been invited to be part of the same event as the public district schools.

In Minneapolis, the district schools and charter schools will both hold events at the Hyatt Minneapolis, in separate rooms.
