The first bills of the 2011 legislative session begin rolling out at the State Capitol later today. Republicans, who now control the Minnesota House and Senate, have been promising to focus much of the session on job creation. They say the first bills will reflect that priority.

Gov. Mark Dayton is expected to announce more cabinet appointments this week. He'll also travel to northern Minnesota to highlight his own economic agenda.

MPR's Phil Picardi was joined this morning by reporter Tim Pugmire for a look at state politics in the week ahead.
