Police investigating armored car robbery in St. Paul

St. Paul police and the FBI are investigating an early morning armored car robbery.

Police spokesman John Keating said a man with a gun robbed an armored car driver who was servicing an automated teller machine at a Super America station on the 900 block on University Avenue in St. Paul.

"During that fight the suspect was able to get cash from the armored car driver," Keating said. "He also got the armored car driver's gun. The suspect got into a waiting vehicle outside that was a dark colored SUV."

Police aren't disclosing the amount of cash stolen.

Police are asking for anyone who witnessed the robbery just before 6 a.m. to give the police details of what they saw. Keating says the robbery is unusual and does not a fit a pattern of any other incidents.
