3 men sought in Winona hotel room holdup

Winona police are searching for three men who barged into a hotel room and stole hundreds of dollars in cash.

Police Sgt. Chris Nelson says the suspects, wearing dark coats, entered a room at the Quality Inn just after 1 p.m. Wednesday. Two of the robbers wore masks, and one of the men had what was believed to be a .45-caliber handgun.

Nelson tells KAGE-AM the men took $2,200 in cash from under a couch in the room, plus $300 to $400 from one of three people occupying the room, then fled.

One victim was struck with the pistol as the suspects entered the room.
