Fargo officer reprimanded for misplacing handgun

Fargo police say an officer received a letter of reprimand for leaving a personal handgun in a store's restroom while she was off duty.

Police in neighboring Moorhead, Minn., said officer Jessica Homan left the gun in the bathroom of a sporting goods store on Dec. 17.

Store officials contacted Moorhead police when the gun was found, and it was returned to Homan, who had already realized she had misplaced it.

Sgt. Mike Mitchell of the Fargo Police Department's Office of Professional Standards told the Forum that an internal complaint about the handgun incident was upheld and Homan was given a letter of reprimand.
