The new chairman of the Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission was at the State Capitol Wednesday to talk about the Metrodome with members of the Senate Local Government and Elections Committee.
Ted Mondale told lawmakers he does not yet know when the collapsed roof will be repaired.
As for a possible new Vikings stadium, Mondale reiterated Gov. Mark Dayton's support for a stadium. After the hearing, Mondale told reporters Dayton wants state lawmakers to decide soon whether to pursue a stadium plan or drop the idea.
"It's a non-election year. This is the year that we need to get it done," Mondale said. "He doesn't want 'til after the budget debate and have it come up as the last thing like last session. He wants to see the Legislature move something quickly. If they can't move a bill, if it's impossible, he doesn't want to spend the time on it."
Mondale said he hoped lawmakers would be able to come up with a plan in within the next two months.
