Downed wire halts light-rail service in Mpls.
Light rail service in downtown Minneapolis has been halted because of a broken overhead power line.
Metro Transit spokesman Bob Gibbons said the electrical line break is near the Metrodome.
"[An] overhead power supply line broke at the downtown east Metrodome station so we have no electricity, and the electricity powers the train," Gibbons said. "So we have buses that are replacing the trains in the downtown area."
Gibbons said light rail service is running on schedule from the Franklin Avenue station and stops along the way to the Mall of America. Gibbons predicts light rail service in downtown Minneapolis will be restored by rush hour.
