Fire crews battling Plymouth apartment blaze

Crews are battling a five-alarm fire at a large apartment complex in the western Twin Cities.

The fire at the Plymouth Oaks apartment building in Plymouth was reported just after 4:30 p.m. Monday.

KSTP-TV reports flames are shooting from the top of the building.

Deputy Plymouth Fire Chief Kip Springer tells WCCO-AM that authorities believe everyone in the burning section of the building got out safely. Springer says authorities believe the fire started on the third floor but it's too early to say how it started.

Plymouth firefighters are getting help from departments in Wayzata and Brooklyn Park.
