Minn. man sentenced for sexually assaulting girls

A northwest Minnesota man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for sexually assaulting two girls under the age of 13.

Thirty-one-year-old Evert Armstrong Jr. of Mentor was sentenced in Red Lake County Court Monday.

WDAZ-TV reports that Armstrong earlier pleaded guilty to the two counts in a plea agreement. Four other counts were dropped.

Authorities say the sexual assaults happened in Red Lake County over the past few years.
