Wells Fargo said Tuesday that customers who paid fees to use out-of-network ATMs during an outage a day earlier will be reimbursed.
Wells Fargo spokeswoman Peggy Gunn said the bank's ATMs are back in operation after the network was down "for a few hours" on Monday. Wells Fargo has about 12,000 ATMs nationwide.
In a statement, the bank apologized to customers.
"We intend to reimburse customers who may have been impacted. This includes reimbursement of any fee Wells Fargo/Wachovia or another bank may have assessed for using an out-of-network machine," the statement read.
Wells Fargo declined to release any information about what caused the issue, saying it is proprietary.
