3 shot outside Bloomington IHOP; no arrests

Bloomington police are investigating the shootings of three young men outside of a pancake restaurant early Monday morning.

The shooting happened around 3 a.m. after a party bus of about two dozen people arrived at the parking lot of an International House of Pancakes restaurant near the Mall of America. Police say second vehicle pulled into the lot and opened fire in the parking lot.

A bullet grazed the body of one man, but two others were more seriously wounded and sent to the hospital.

Police Cmdr. Mark Stehlik said investigators believe the victims and the shooters had a prior relationship.

"I'm not getting the impression from the investigation that this is a random incident," Stehlik said. "It appeared that the shooters and the victims knew each other in some manner or another. This was not a random deal."

He said the three shooting victims are expected to live.

Police are trying to identify the vehicle the suspects were in, but Stehlik said no arrests have been made.

"We've got a number of investigators working on this due to the large number of potential witnesses and victims, and they're in the process of interviewing people and seeing if we can determine who the suspects are in this," he said.
