Residents keeping close watch for possible weekend floods in Jordan, Minn.
Warmer temperatures expected over the next few days will bring about a significant snow melt -- and possible flooding.
The National Weather Service issued several flood warnings Friday, including one for the southwest-metro city of Jordan.
Mayor Pete Ewals said ice jams in the Sand Creek, which runs through town, present the biggest threat.
"The ice will dam up, and the water backs up really quick," he said. "Generally, you end up spending a 24-hour vigil, between the police and city crews, watching ice dams and reacting to them."

But Ewals said Mother Nature appears to be on his city's side for now.
"Yesterday the ice dams through town that I saw, they all broke up, which is really excellent for us," Ewals said. "That's like the first bullet that we dodged."
Ewals said the city will keep an eye on water levels and will be ready to break up ice jams with backhoes. Officials are also monitoring the Minnesota River.
The National Weather Service also issued flood warnings for New Ulm, Mankato, Shakopee and Savage.
