2 people dead in southcentral Wis. plane crash

The Federal Aviation Administration says two people have died in the crash of a single-engine plane in south central Wisconsin.

FAA spokesman Elizabeth Isham Cory says the crash happened about 6:30 p.m. Sunday about 15 miles southwest of Baraboo.

Law enforcement spent the evening searching in foggy conditions for the aircraft, but didn't find the wreckage until about 11 p.m. The Sauk County Sheriff's Department says the area where the plane went down is rural and wooded.

Cory says the Cessna 150 left from an airport in Lake in the Hills, Ill., earlier in the day. Its destination was not known. She says the plane was using visual flight rules, so it wasn't in contact with an air tower when it went down.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating.
