Ramsey Co. promotes emergency program for disabled

Ramsey County Sheriff Matt Bostrom is promoting a new service designed to help disabled residents in the event of an emergency.

The sheriff and the St. Paul Mayor's Advisory Committee for People with Disabilities say disabled residents can put their medical information in the hands of first responders by filling out a form with their name, address and medical information.

If a disabled person calls 911, first responders will know if they are entering a situation where there might be special circumstances.

The service is voluntary. And the information will be kept at the 911 call center.

On Monday afternoon, Bostrom and others will release a public service announcement to promote the service. Registration forms can be found on the county's website.
