Baby born after collision with suspect fleeing police dies

ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) - St. Cloud police say a baby delivered by emergency C-section after a fatal chase has died.

Police were notified of the death of Timothy James Thomsen at about 3 p.m. Monday.

Prosecutors on Monday charged a Waite Park man in the police chase that injured the baby's 22-year-old mother and killed a 30-year-old man.

Twenty-two-year-old Timothy Gilles is charged with one count of fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle resulting in the death of another. The St. Cloud Times reports more charges are expected.

Authorities were chasing Gilles on a warrant Friday when Gilles hit the driver's side of another vehicle.

Police identify the driver who died as Timothy Casanova of Starbuck. His passenger, Megan Thomsen of Glenwood, is in fair condition at St. Cloud Hospital.
