Duluth council considers extending city deer hunt
Duluth is considering whether to extend the annual bow hunt for deer in the city.
Bow hunters have taken more than 3,000 deer in the past six years of the hunt in the city. But, residents still complain that deer overpopulate the city, causing damage to trees and plants.
The City Council is expected to consider renewing a contract with Arrowhead Bowhunters Alliance Monday night. ABA coordinates the annual hunt.
Councilor Jay Fosle tells the Duluth News Tribune hunters should be required to kill two antlerless deer before taking a buck. The current requirement is just one.
